Senior Dues

February 28th is the final day to pay senior dues ($75).

Senior Dues help offset the cost of class shirts and graduation costs not covered by FCPS which includes transportation to and from George Mason University.

Dues can be paid by cash or check (make payable to MVHS) in the Subschool or through the MySchool Bucks online site.

Senior Privileges

We are putting a few senior privileges into effect for the 2024 - 2025 school year:

1. Seniors who have less than 10% absences and are passing their 7th and 8th period classes will be permitted to leave class 5 minutes early on Fridays beginning on September 20th.

2. Seniors will be exempt from the final exam in every class where they have a passing grade and less than 10% absences.

3. Senior-only athletic cards are available for the Class of 2025! Seniors can get their cards marked to earn prizes any time they attend an event. Stop by the Senior Subschool (Upper A Subschool) to pick up a card.

PSAT & SAT Day - October 9th, 2024

PSAT & SAT Day is scheduled on October 9th, 2024. Students will have a two (2) hour early release for the day.

Only seniors registered to take the SAT on this day should report. A Grab and Go Lunch will be offered to students.

VACRAO College Fair - October 10th, 2024

The VACRAO College Fair will be held at MVHS from 3 - 7:00 p.m.

Class of 2025 Parent Council - October 10th, 2024

The Class of 2025 Parent Council Meeting will be held in the Library Media Center Classroom from 7 - 8:00 p.m.

Class updates, fundraiser discussions and planning for Senior MajorFest are a part of the scheduled agenda.

Alcanza College Fair - October 16th, 2024

The Alcanza College Fair will be held at George Mason University from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

If you would like to attend, be sure to complete the required Field Trip Permission form.

ASVAB Testing @ MVHS - October 17th, 2024

The ASVAB Test will be administered at MVHS on October 17th, 2024 starting at 8:15 a.m.

The ASVAB is used to help identify a person's strengths and find a career that matches them. It's also used to predict a person's future academic and occupational success in the military.

College Fair: "Look to the Future" - October 20th, 2024

FCPS along with the Office of Admissions at George Mason present the 49th Annual College Fair. This event will be held at George Mason University's Eagle Bank Arena from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. 

Registration is required for this event.

Attendance Reminder!

If your student is going to be absent, please ensure that you call the attendance line at 703.619.3131. 

If your student is going to arrive late or leave early – please call the attendance line and let us know.  Additionally, please have your late arriving student come directly to the sub-school upon arrival with a Doctor's note for check out.  If your student is leaving early, please send a note in with them in the morning to be dropped off at the sub-school so that we can have a check-out pass prepared prior to the dismissal time.

MVHS Campus Policy!

Mount Vernon High School is a closed campus.  This means that students are not permitted to leave the building for any reason, unless cleared by MVHS staff.  Students are not permitted to leave to get lunch, or to have lunch delivered.  Please reinforce this policy with your student so that we can ensure the safety and security of all MVHS students/staff.
